This function allows the administrator to edit the call types that can be assigned to a request. Selecting it from the menu will bring up the window shown below.
The following editing options are available:
The green arrows on the right of the window allow the administrator to change the order in which call types appear in menus. This allows them to place more common types at the top of the menu to increase the ease of entering information.
To add a new Call Type, click the Green plus symbol on the top left of the screen to open the Add New Call Type Window.
First, a display name for this call type should be entered in the Call Type field. Next, the appropriate check-boxes should be selected to set properties for this call type.
System Types can be set for Call Types to correspond with the NEMSIS Data Dictionary Type of Service Requested, field E02_04. The field values for NEMSIS are as follows:
To set the System Types the administrator will need to select the appropriate System Type for the Call Type. The organization's Call Type and Call Sub-Type will still populate the NEMSIS field E23_09.
Default Call Type will set the call type as the default to be assigned to a new request; if a user does not specify a different call type for a request, Flight Vector will use the default type. There must be a default call type; to make a call type not the default a new default must be selected.
Default Call Type When Creating From Map will set the call type as the default to be assigned to a new request created from FVMap.
On Scene Call Type will set this as a scene type call. This will allow users to send pages, if enabled, and will instruct crew members to Launch on Scene. An EMS Trauma call, for example, would be a scene type call, while an inter-facility transfer would not.
Asset Available during will specify if the asset assigned to a request of this call type will be available for assignment to a new request during the current request or not. For example, a public outreach request would be listed as asset available during because the asset could be diverted from that request to another, more urgent, request; a request transporting a patient would not be set as asset available during.
Non-Patient Call Type specifies that no patients are transported on requests of this type.
Enable Liftoff Alert determines whether an alert will be generated for this type of request if liftoff does not happen in a timely manner. Liftoff is defined as the time when an asset departs on the first leg of a request; the time limit for liftoff is set using Settings>Alerts. This alert will appear on the request strip if/when it occurs. For example, a liftoff alert would probably not be necessary for a public outreach request but would most likely be enabled for an EMS Trauma request.
The options following the check boxes allow the administrator to further specify settings for this call type.
Intake Path specifies which intake screen should be used for this call type. The intake screen paths, if enabled, can be set up using the Edit>Settings>Call Intake Fields menu option.
Pager Group allows the administrator to select which, if any, pager groups should be alerted when a request of this type is created. Pager groups are set using the Edit>Settings Pager Groups menu function.
Color field allows the administrator to set the color of the call type field on the request strip. Any color can be selected or created using the color window, shown below.
