We regularly release new builds to introduce new features and improve the software. This guide walks you through the steps to update your software safely and effectively.
Important: Never revert to an earlier version.
Important: The below does not reflect the build version you should be on. The following instructions are only an example of how to update your FV build version.
Before you start
If your company does not have a policy to take daily backups of your database, we recommend taking a backup of your Database.
Instructions
1. Identify which build you would like to update to by reading the release notes:
2. Download the build from here: Build Downloads.
3. Save it to your application server.
4. Extract the Build (screenshots are view-dependent).
5. Have the end users log out of the CAD.
6. Stop the FVServer Service on the application server.
Important: If you have a failover server, you will also need to stop the services on the failover server at this time.
7. Copy the dbupdates and the fvserver.exe files.
8. Paste in the FlightVectorServer folder (click on the white area to paste).
9. Start the FVServer Services on the main application server.
10. Once the updates have run, you will see that the dbupdates are then consumed, and you will no longer see them in the folder.
11. The end users can now log into the application, making sure they receive the dialogue to update the latest version for the client.
Additional Step For Failover Server.
If you have a failover server, please repeat the above steps 1 to 11 in the above process on that server as well.
