Differences in Hosted & Self-Hosted Environment – Vellox Group

This document explains the key differences between a self-hosted environment and a hosted environment to help end users understand where their data resides and how to receive support based on their organization's solution type.

FV CAD is comprised of a client, database, and server. This product is what we are discussing in regards to hosting. All other products, though data from some are stored in your organizations database, are supported by our team here at Vellox Group.

1. Overview

Self-Hosted Environment: Your organization is responsible for deploying, managing, and maintaining the application on your own infrastructure (on-premises or in the cloud).
What this means for you:
- Your IT team provides troubleshooting, monitoring, and disaster recovery.
- Vellox Group support may be available but limited to software-related issues.
- Important: If you experience server issues in a self-hosted environment, please contact your internal IT department before calling our support line. We do not have access to your servers and cannot restart services or investigate issues without your IT team’s involvement.
- You procure and manage the servers, network, storage, and database systems.
- You handle security hardening, patching, and monitoring.
- Your organization has full control over security configurations, data encryption, and access policies.
- Greater flexibility but requires in-house technical expertise.
Hosted Environment: Vellox Group hosts the solution on our managed infrastructure, handling deployment, maintenance, and ongoing support for you.
