We are not aware of any unfixed leaks or any bug that requires a nightly restart, but because we have had such bugs a few times over the years, we see some value in hedging against another one existing. For most of our customers a short outage in the middle of the night doesn't really affect operations, so reducing the risk of running into some kind of performance degradation is a worthwhile trade-off.
If you can monitor that machine to see if the FVServer.exe process exceeds 2GB of memory, that would at least alert for most of the problems that automatic restarts have mitigated in the past.
Note: We do not recommend nightly restarts anymore. They are not necessary.
Below are instructions for setting up a nightly restart from the CAD.
Instructions
1. Go to Settings and type in Restart
2. Turn ‘Restart Server Daily’ on
3. Set the ‘Restart Server Daily Time’
